CCG contract penalties

The NHS Standard Contract is a key enabler for commissioners to secure improvement in the quality of services for patients. Commissioners enforce the standard terms, including the financial consequences for under-performance or failure to provide data on which to assess performance. Financial penalties are a way of focussing attention on an area which may not be providing the level of service expected. The financial penalties are reinvested in the Trusts after agreement of how the money is to be used to improve care in key areas.
