Currently the way GP services are bought is shared between the CCG and NHS England. GPs and CCG members voted in February about how we would like to buy these services in future, and we have voted in favour of managing our own budget for primary care (called delegated commissioning).
What will this mean for patients?
This will mean that from 1 April 2017 we will be able to take full responsibility for the management of our primary care medical services allowing us to tailor our services more effectively to meet local patients’ needs. This new way of working will also give patients more opportunity to input and influence how primary care services are developed.
