High Court challenge rejected
The Collaboration of NW London CCGs today commented on the successful rejection at the High Court of the case brought by Ealing council to seek to halt the ‘Shaping a healthier future’ programme of planned improvements to patient care across north west London.
Dr Mark Spencer, Ealing GP and the programme’s medical director, said: “We are pleased with the outcome of this case. We have always been confident of the benefits of the work we have done with staff, patients and key organisations – and continue to believe that the plans developed by clinicians are in the best interests of our patients.
“We are also of course separately awaiting the outcome of the Independent Reconfiguration Panel review. The panel has made its report to Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt and so we now await his decision based on the panel’s advice.
“Locally, we will now look forward to working with the council and other organisations in Ealing, investing in out of hospital care and building new facilities to deliver better health care and the very best patient experiences. I have no doubt that our plans will save lives. So this is a very good result for patients, for NW London and for the NHS.”
