NHS North West London celebrates outstanding women leaders

Ethie And Mohini

We are delighted to announce that Doctor Etheldreda Kong, Chair of Brent CCG and Doctor Mohini Parmar, Chair of Ealing CCG have been successfully nominated as outstanding women leaders in the NHS.

Both Etheldreda (Ethie) and Mohini were nominated and selected as winners for making a real difference to the organisations they lead. Please join us in congratulating them on being recognised for the inspirational contribution they make to the NHS and the fantastic work they do.

This exiting announcement comes as part of celebrations for the NHS’s 70th birthday (5 July 2018) to celebrate women leaders and their achievements. The awards are being run by the London Women’s Leadership Network (LWLN), a network dedicated to ensuring that NHS leadership is truly diverse and inclusive at every level.

Doctor Ethie Kong has been chair of Brent CCG since its inception in 2013. Her leadership has seen her pioneer new services to improve care and patient outcomes in one of the most deprived areas in London. Alongside her responsibilities as chair she has also been a GP in the local area for more than 30 years.

On receiving this award, Ethie said: “I am honoured and proud to have been selected as a winner for this award. I believe that the NHS is one of the best services in the world; it is free at the point of contact to delivery, and provides equitable care for all. It is important to me to make a positive impact. I will continue to serve the residents of North West London, with the support of dedicated colleagues and stakeholders in Brent CCG and across North West London. I will also continue to mentor NHS professionals to improve development, retention and resilience.”

Doctor Mohini Parmar has been chair of Ealing CCG since 2016; she has also been a GP in the local area for more than 30 years. Mohini has driven innovative and improved care for residents in Ealing, whilst building strong relationships across organisations in North West London.

Mohini comments: “I am very honoured and humbled to be selected as an ‘NHS70 Women Leader’. The NHS is a very special organisation to work for and I have been very privileged to be able to work and serve this organisation for many years. The NHS is made up of the most committed and hardworking individuals who work way beyond the call of duty to deliver care for all our citizens. I am very grateful to all my team at Ealing CCG and North West London for all their support and I look forward to continue working with them.”

The network embarked on a quest earlier this year to find and celebrate 70 outstanding women leaders across the NHS in London. The women selected by the LWLN were whittled down from 150 nominations to highlight some of the strong, female role models working in the NHS.

Mark Easton, Accountable Officer of the North West London Collaboration of CCGs adds: “We couldn’t be happier that both Ethie and Mohini have been recognised for their hard work. As inspirational members of our workforce we wanted them to know that we notice and appreciate them. We are really proud of them and all the NHS staff that make a positive impact on the lives of our residents that they serve every day.”
