Oriel - Committee in Common

Oriel is the exciting proposal to design, build and operate a new, purpose-built centre of excellence for eye care, research and education for Moorfields Eye Hospital and the UCL Institute of Ophthalm

It is a joint venture between Moorfields Eye Hospital, UCL and Moorfields Eye Charity. It is proposed for services at Moorfields Eye Hospital on City Road and UCL Institute of Ophthalmology (IoO) on Bath Street to relocate to a new, integrated facility at a preferred site of St Pancras Hospital.

A drop-in session was held on 2 April at Ealing Town Hall for service users and staff to talk to the team about the changes ahead of the planned public consultation launch in two week’s time.

Committee in Common

As part of the process and preparation for the consultation launch, the Moorfield’s Committees in Common is meeting on 24 April.

Papers for this meeting are now available on the Ealing CCG website here

The Committee in Common is the decision making board for this project. Ealing CCG are members of the committee and as we spend more than £2million a year on patients attending Moorfield’s services.  The Governing Body agreed to provide three members with delegated authority to attend the committee in common when they discussed the item in January.

The Committees in Common process was approved at all the necessary JCCs and Governing Bodies in January and February 2019.
