Residents living and working in parts of Hanwell and West Ealing are advised to get a Covid-19 test

Ealing CCG and Ealing Council are asking residents living and working in parts of Hanwell and West Ealing to get a Covid-19 test. This applies whether they have covid symptoms or not, and we are encouraging residents to do so after a local resident tested positive for the South African strain of the virus. The resident has now made a full recovery.

There is currently no evidence that the South African strain of the virus caused more illness or that Covid-19 vaccines would not protect against it. There is some evidence that, like the UK variant, it could be passed on more easily.

A walk-through mobile testing unit for people without symptoms has been set up at Deans Garden Car Park, Leeland Terrace, West Ealing W13 9DA. Testing will begin on Monday 1st February.

To book a test, people should go to www.ealing.gov.uk/covidtest

Further information is available on the Ealing Council website here.
